NCAA Women’s Final Four

The NCAA Women's Final Four is here and is highlighted by a massive game between Iowa and UConn to see who makes it to the National Championship.

The NCAA Women’s Tournament is coming to an end and by the end of Friday, we’ll know which two teams will be playing in the National Championship.

No. 3 NC State vs. No. 1 South Carolina, & 7 p.m. ET (ESPN)

NC State has looked very good in their tournament run but they’ll be going up against an undefeated South Carolina team that’s on a mission. To get to the Final Four the Wolfpack knocked off No. 1 Texas 76-66. In that game, Aziaha James had 27 points to lead NC State. James has taken over the tournament for NC State and has scored over 20 points in all but the First Round. NC State will have to start fast and make sure that they don’t put themselves in a big deficit early on. They’ve been very impressive and if they keep up their good form we could see them knock off the tournament favorites to make it to the National Championship.

South Carolina knocked off Oregon State 70-58 to advance to the Final Four once again. Bree Hall, Kamilla Cardoso, and Tessa Johnson all had 10+ points in that game. South Carolina will want to control the pace of the game. In previous games they’ve gotten off to fast starts and then struggled a little bit, they’ll need to make sure that NC State doesn’t go on any big runs.

Prediction: South Carolina

No. 3 UConn vs. No. 1 Iowa, 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Despite having a very thin roster due to injuries, UConn has made it to the Final Four but they’ll have to go through Iowa if they want a chance at the National Championship. Paige Bueckers has been outstanding for the Huskies, against USC in the Elite Eight she had a double-double with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Bueckers has scored at least 20 points in each game of the NCAA Tournament. Aaliyah Edwards also had a big game against USC with 24 points.

The main thing for UConn is going to be staying out of foul trouble. They have the offensive power to keep up with Iowa but if they find themselves in foul trouble it could open the door for Iowa to go on a run. UConn has been good defensively this season holding opponents to an average of 56.8 points per game but they’ll be going up against the best offense in the country.

Iowa is one win away from returning to the National Championship game for the second year in a row but they’ll have a tough matchup against UConn. The attention has been on Caitlin Clark but all of Iowa’s starters have stepped up big this tournament. Against LSU in the Elite Eight, Clark had 41 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds. She’s had at least 25 points every game so far but she’s been getting help from the rest of the Hawkeyes which has made them very difficult to stop.

Kate Martin has been great for Iowa and against LSU she had 21 points. Hannah Stuelke, Sydney Affolter, and Gabbie Marshall have all come up big as well. In every game of the tournament so far Iowa has had at least three players score double digits.

Prediction: Iowa
