Video: Technical Analysis

A technical analysis is the opposite to a fundamental analysis as you analyze at past events and statistics to make educated guesses.

Now it’s time to look at technical analysis. This is pretty much the opposite – you look purely at past events and statistics to make educated guesses.

You will dive into the numbers with technical analysis to find patterns and trends that we call systems and angles.

Systems refer to larger, overarching concepts or ideas, not teams or players. To create a system you look for patterns through outcomes:

For example

  • The home team is an underdog AND
  • The home team lost their last game AND
  • The home team has gone 13-1 against the spread in the last 2 years in the NFL

Angles are the exact same, but now you are looking at teams and players

  • John Johnson is the starting quarterback AND
  • The Game is on a Monday or Thursday AND
  • The Result: John Johnson has a 2-6 ATS record

If you want to take it all a step further, create power ratings as we mentioned earlier. These are numerical values assigned to each and every team. These create predictive outcomes based on where you rank teams.
