While online betting remains restricted (unfortunately), Mississippi offers around 30 retail sportsbooks.
Here are the casinos currently offering sports betting in Mississippi, at the time of writing this post:
Some of these casinos are operated by tribal groups, while others have partnered with major sportsbook operators.
Key regulations and rules
The legal betting age in Mississippi is 21, and anyone physically in the state can place a bet.
Mississippi sportsbooks typically offer bets on a wide range of professional and college events, including games featuring in-state teams like Ole Miss and Mississippi State. However, betting on esports is not yet legal in the state, though this could change with future legislation.
A bit of background
Mississippi was one of the first states to launch legal sports betting after the repeal of PASPA in 2018 (when betting became legal in the US), but the market hasn’t experienced much growth since its initial debut. Even though both online and retail sports betting are technically legal in Mississippi, nearly all bets are placed in person due to the online sports betting laws.
Online sports betting is limited to specific casino properties. This means that, while BetMGM and Pearl River Sports have betting apps you can use them if you are physically present within the associated casinos (such as Beau Rivage and Gold Strike). So it's not really "online" in the traditional sense: you can't bet from home!

Changes may be on the horizon. In early 2025, the Mississippi House of Representatives passed the Mississippi Mobile Sports Wagering Act. This bill aims to authorize statewide mobile sports betting, and, if passed, would likely expand the state’s online betting options.
Mississippi has a rich gambling culture, particularly in casino gaming. With so many casinos already established, it was no surprise that the state quickly moved to legalize sports betting. A 2014 committee began studying the potential of legal sports betting, and in 2017, the state officially legalized daily fantasy sports (DFS), setting the stage for broader sports wagering.
After the US Supreme Court struck down PASPA in May 2018, the Mississippi Gaming Commission quickly released regulations, and the first official sports bets were placed on August 1, 2018. While the state was ahead of many others in launching sports betting, efforts to expand online wagering have been slow. The first online sportsbook, BetMGM, launched in 2021, but its use remains restricted to casino premises.
